CSR in Kenya

Hello everyone,

I amlooking for a good source to understand the CSR scenario in Kenya. In particular, I am in need of information on what CSR activities are in place in Keny , by which companies, the strategies and the reason etc. What is the future of CSR in kenya? What MOUs or agreements have been made in the last few years with the Government or with the developmental partners with the private sector on CSR issues.

Can anyone please help me.

I would also ask you to keep checking www.csrkenya.org. Its a new initiative with working programs on CSR in Kenya. Its main aim is to understand how CSR activities are developed and the sustainability of their CSR. It goes further on CSR reporting and communication.
CSR Kenya would welcome members to help in this initiative and work in collaboration.

I have gone through the websites you have proposed. However, I was not able to find much details in any of the websites apart form a bit on KEPSA. None of the sites gives me ANY information on what csr activities are on the ground in Kenya, who is spending how much on what and in which sectors and areas etc. I also did not find any information on these sites that talk about KENYA and its developmental challenges, plans and Governmental Priorities etc. Any CSR to be effective, has to be aligned at the minimum to the challenges of the country and the developmental priorities of the donors/ Governments.

I found the csrkenya site to be particularly weak on all counts and it talks more of charities and philanthropy rather than CSR - Sorprate Social Responsibility. Ufadhilitrust also does not touch on any substantial issues or is not populated with information to glean.

Kepsa is susrprisingly weak in information considering it has the backing of all private sector companies , UN, donor agencies, Government etc.

Could you kindly direct me to any other site you know of that can help me get information on what the private sector has been, is and will be doing on the CSR issues in Kenya. Are there any MOUs signed by thee companies with the Govt. etc.

If you can introduce me to the CSR people of the major private sector in Kenya, including the MNCs. I can also ask them directly and share my results with you. I am doing a research on CSR issues in Kenya and would like your help if possible to get as much information as I can as fast as possible and as reliable as possible.
