Hi! I'm glad to be part of this discussion. I am ED of the Center for Social Responsibility of the University of Asia and the Pacific, Manila. Some years back we conducted a seminar series nationwide to demonstrate to SMEs that CSR is not only for large corporations. This campaign was funded by the British Embassy-Manila. Last year and up to next year, the Brits are funding us to provide technical assistance to local government units on how to access alternative funding for their social projects outside of their Internal Revenue Allocation. We guide them from conceptualizing, feasibility study preparation and actual implementation in a highly professional manner, something very rare in this country.

How about the agricultural sector in the midst of the threaned exploitation, that is what i need to focus on in the beginning of that all am not only reserving the species but also looking forward to preventing it from extinction thats what i do am a farmer first and fore most but also am an interprenuer in my country looking forward to hearing from people with ideas about promoting people with different possibilties but some how limited resources of there involvement in what they could really performed that could be a goal to overcome poverty through interprenuership to the people around with different ideas for business.

Hi! I am a professor in Business and at the same time Executive Director of Small & Medium Enterprises Development Institute Foundation Inc. here in the Philippines.

How do you promote CSR in your respective companies/institutions? What specific projects and programs have you implemented to achieve your goals in CSR?

CSR is one of the most responsive perspective to the problem of peverty and sustainable development especially for underdeveloped and developping countries. It's a process whereby companies (SME, Multinationals) can emplement community development policies and programs without wasting internal resource. This will though create an added value for the company.

I would certainly say my company is one of those contributing to the poverty aspect of MDGs

This seems an ideal forum to share views on SMEs and CSR, so thanks for starting it. I'd like to raise my first question in the hope of getting the discussion started. What examples are available of SMEs that have contributed directly to governments achieving development objectives or reaching given targets under the MDGs?
