The
Institute for Human Rights and Business is an independent organisation dedicated to helping improve global understanding of the relationship between business and issues relating to internationally proclaimed human rights standards. It will explore and clarify the roles and responsibilities of business and governments, and provide an avenue for trade unions, civil society, and others, to offer expertise and find solutions acceptable to all, that are consistent with human rights standards.
Executive Director, Full-Time, Initial 18 Month Contract
The Institute is looking for a full time Executive Director to help establish the Institute as a global leader in researching, analysing, shaping, and influencing the emerging business and human rights agenda. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in the field of human rights and business, experience of working with a wide array of people and organisations on sensitive and difficult issues and a proven track record of organisation management. The main job of the Executive Director will be to find ways of creating real and optimal impact through promoting and facilitating deeper understanding about the human rights issues and challenges businesses face in practice, and the possible range of appropriate and effective responses. This will require advancing understanding among the main actors involved (i.e. business, governments and international agencies, NGOs, etc.) as well as among opinion former, business and law schools, and the public in general.
