Good morning from the Kingdom of Tonga Alan!
I would like to kindly express, from a business/policy perspective the linkages between govt, business and the community etc.. whether we function in a monarchist governed state or a fully democratic go...
Hi Alan, I belive strongly that it is better late than never, there have been several discussions in various countries across the globe about participatory democracy, democratic tendecies and practices that create the platform for each and every i...
I have been working with schools in Africa, seeking to create links with UK schools and businesses. We have managed to get many companies here to provide opportunities for learners and educators in Africa. We are able to work with organisations such as Khanya (www.khanya.co.za) in the Western Cape. We have avoided the situation where money goes to one school and instead create systemic change through the involvement of local government and education groups. Professional training and exchanges has all been part of this scheme.
The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) is a leading body for secondary education.
The SSAT seeks to give more young people access to a good secondary education by building networks, sharing practice and supporting schools. The SSAT's way of working is based on the principle 'by schools for schools.'
The SSAT is at the heart of a growing network of schools including primary, secondary, special schools and academies. We believe it represents the largest network of its kind in the world.
My personal expertise is a background in new technologies and conference/networking.
I worked in schools for 27 years before joining the SSAT and in the last five years have spent a great deal of time in Southern Africa working with schools and advising on the adoption of new technologies.

Hello Alan
i'm just catching up on my networking, after a couple of weeks of hectic activity!
I can't actually remember now, whether you invited me to be your friend or vice-versa, but any way we seem to be friends, which is good!
I'd love to knwo more about your work, it sounds fascinating and very much needed. The organisation i set up, The Women for a Change Foundation, is developing a project in Uganda with some women's groups there - I wonder if you have any connections with schools in Uganda?
Blessings
Chris
