Source of my passion about the power of business to fight poverty
I work for a non government organisation
Website:
http://www.odi.org.uk/tourism
About my work:
In 1993 I was helping remote communities set up beautiful campsites. A decade later i was working with mainstream tourism businesses, helping them harness their own supply chains and their guests' spending power to deliver local economic gain. A central theme of our Business and Development Programme at ODI is how 'core business' can be adapted to optimise development benefit in different sectors. Now this idea is becoming well accepted we need to compare experience, see what works, and whether we can actually assess what difference it makes to development.
Interested in:
Professional Contacts, Potential Partners, Learning about work in the field, Sharing resources, Career Opportunities
Topics on my radar:
Measuring the impact of big business on development.
Using procurement power and supply chains for stimulating local enterprise.
Innovation in harnessing core competencies and core business for development gain.
