About my work:
I am one of the founders of The Women for a Change Foundation, a new NGO dedicated to helping disadvantaged women worldwide.

Our organisation works to bring together women who want to help with women in need.

We run an online community and are developing several projects.
Our main one is to develop a global resource centre where womens groups and organisations can share expertise and knowledge and become a focus for wider funding and developmental assistance

Trust is often the first casualty of terrorism and can be further undermined by punitive forms of counter-terrorism. At the same time, trust-building is central to establishing dialogue, the conflict resolution process and long-term conflict transformation.

When Sir Anthony Berry MP was killed in the IRA Brighton Bombing during the 1984 Tory Part… Continue

Dear Christine,
Apologies for the delay in response. I received notice of a comment you left for me, however cannot open that page.
However, I am very interested to join your organisation.
I have a very busy work related lifestyle, but do my best to assist women in need in my area.
My latest project is a school teacher from Zimbabwe. She came to South Africa 18 months ago to support her family. She had a husband and four children who stayed in Zimbabwe. I met her at a ladies camp. It was clear that she needed assistance to survive. I requested her CV and sent it out to everyone I know. Within two weeks we found her a teaching position at the local Fountain of Life Christian School, teaching Maths and Science to the Grade 12 pupils. She was overwhelmed. At the time she was living with her brother in a very tiny room, so we found her accommodation. Her husband has since died in Zimbabwe and she had to fetch her two younger children. Two daughters had to stay behind due to financial constraints. We have found her better accommodation which is needed to raise her 8year old son and 11 year old daughter.
It is heart breaking to know that she only earns R3500 per month, of which R1700 is paid for accommodation. From the balance she still buys food to send to her two children in Zimbabwe.
By talking to like minded people who cares, she survives from handouts such as curtains, bedding, and all the other stuff one needs to put up a home for yourself and two children.

My objective is to grow my business in order to employ more women who are in need. The unemployment rate is very high in the Eastern Cape where I live and creating employment is very important to me.

I salute you Christine for what you are doing for women around the world. Please advise how we can be of assistance to each other in future.

By the way, my Zimbabwean friend's name is Christine Chipo Nyoka.

May you reach all your goals. You have my support.

Kind regards,

Reinette Kydd

First sorry for this de3lay, I m having a problem with my laptop , hope it s going to be fix next week. Thanks for your message and it was my pleasure to join the group, I do believe in women wisdom, power, skills , I do believe that society is nothing without women, we are the ones who bring change , educate generations, give a smiley sense to life in general .

As regards me, I am a banker now living since a year and a half in Canada, but originally from Algeria, I studied finance and I have a master in Economics of Development , I have always been interested in development issues and women empowerment in particular , I worked in a Development bank before in Africa and I loved my experience in microfinance helping microfinance institutions especially those involved to help women by giving them funding and technical support. I also was involved in many workshops and projects for women empowerment and civil society and business coalitions after the program I attended with US MEPI Program for young businesswomen .

That s a summary about my interests and my background , I will be happy to share more with you and get to know more about your activities and be involved in the group.
Thanks

Hello Christine, Thanks for the friendship, I am happy to hear of your travel to Uganda. It will be nice meeting Uganda and you also practically getting exposed to the area where i work. This will act as a good experience to the suffering of the women in this region as a result of the war of the 20 years that left women and children suffering the burnt of the war.

Hi Christine: It was indeed a lovely Easter and I hope yours was as well. I love the energy around WFAC and will look forward to getting involved. We are in the throes of designing new work, a new site, writing, and a few other projects all emerging at the moment, so I am a bit behind the curve. Thanks for your patience!
