Source of my passion about the power of business to fight poverty
I am a social entrepreneur, I work for a company, I work for a business organisaiton
About my work:
I have spent the past 3 years at eBay UK, where I have led a programme to improve market access to producers in developing countries, via the eBay platform. I have believe the internet has an essential & powerful part to play in the reduction of poverty.
I am passionate about poverty alleviation, particularly in how we can harness current business practice & expertise and extend to developing countries.
I have an informed understanding of ethical consumption, a belief in the benefit that could be brought by increasing the volume of ethical products entering the mainstream market and the practical knowledge of how this can be achieved within the context of e-commerce & responsible sourcing.
I am experienced in first stage development of responsible business practise within multiple organisations, varying from a programme start-up within a multinational organisation through to operational set-up within a small ethical retailer.
Due to the current reorganisation at eBay I have made the decision to take redundancy so that I can continue working within the field of International Development. I would be very keen to have conversations regarding employment openings within this sector or simply to exchange ideas and thoughts on current business practise within developing markets.
