Source of my passion about the power of business to fight poverty
I work for a non-government organisation
Website:
http://www.redeartheducation.co.uk
About my work:
I am a Headteacher of a primary school in Harrow. I've worked in Masindi Uganda during holidays since 2003 delivering training to Masindi teachers.
Last year two other teachers and I set up a charity REDEARTH Education.
This is aimed at providing teacher professional development opportunities in Uganda. These are very limited at the current time
We are also currently applying for NGO status in Uganda.

We have just developed a website and are launching a 'Buy A Brick Campaign' with UK schools and anyone else who wants to assist to build a Teachers Resource Centre in Masindi where we will continue to deliver our training and where teachers will be able to access resources. At the same time we hope to support schools in delivering aspects of the global dimension to children in the UK.
We also hope to develop opportunities for CPD of UK teachers.
We've got a short programme being shown on Teacher's TV next week (12th May)'Learning from them, learning from us, learning together' which focuses on the CPD aspects. (|It can be downloaded from Teachers TV)
I also set up a network of 6 schools in Harrow linked to six Masinid schools and have led several visits of teachers and joint projects are taking place between all the schools involved.

I'm just passionate about engaging with the people, about mutual learning and about how we need to be developing real understanidng of global issues with our own kids back here in the UK.

Lynne I have been out of the country, but am interested in your activities between schools in Harrow and Masindi. School-Aid is planning to send a consignment of educational resources to Uganda later this year. I do not have the details yet but will find out and let you know. Kind regards Janis
