About my work:
Pete Ondeng is the Africa Operations Director for MYC4 (www.myc4.com), a web-based market platform linking global investors with business opportunities in Africa, focusing on small and medium enterprises. Prior to that, he was the Africa Regional Director for Millennium Promise, a New York based non-profit organization dedicated to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Between 2003 and 2005, Pete was the CEO of the Eastern Africa Secretariat of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), a pan-African economic development program of the African Union.

Before joining NEPAD, Pete lived in the Netherlands for four years, from where he served as the Africa Director for Oikocredit, an international financial intermediary that provides long-term loans economic development programmes and projects in Asia, Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe. The Netherlands assignment was preceded by a successful three-year stint as Executive Director of Faulu, currently one of East Africa’s fastest growing microfinance institutions.

Pete qualified as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1984 in the U.S. where he began his career as an internal auditor for McDonalds Corporation. In Kenya, his home country, he is widely known as a motivational speaker, trainer, writer and the former host of a popular weekly, prime time television program called “Money Matters”. He writes frequently for local and international media on contemporary economic, social and political issues related to African development. He is the author of two books: How to Start Your Own Small Business (1989) and Africa’s Moment (2004).
