"...we have discribed and keep on describing organisations motivated by social objectives as non-profit organisations. WE NEED TO HAVE ANOTHER description: 'NON-LOSS' organisations, because we do not want to loose money and our objective is to address a particular problem. So we are a non-loss business with social objectives"
Muhammad Yunus, founder of Bangladesh's Grameen Bank.

Personally am working with an NGO (AMs Foundation) as Director of Projects and Programmes, which is ito community development and education.
we have more to share this is my direct email senyoonline@gmail.com.
I enjoyed viewing your photos of the small farming. It is for a collaboration of
such farms as these that I formed a nonprofit called Communities United, Inc
in the State of Hawaii, USA; I have my own business and I have an assignment to develop what we call the Sustainable Energy Center of Excellence at one of the four R&D Centers of the Energy Commission of Nigeria. It is for Western Africa and will be related to the existing NE area
World Energy Council (WEC) organization. There is to be a SE and SW
section too. Your beloved Zimbabwe would fall into the SE section and be
linked to the other countries in that region's organization. By the way do you know anything about TEF as grown in Ethiopia?
Being that we just became friends and that I am new here, we have much to
talk about. My direct email is cloustonenergy@aol.com I will need your own
mailing address and I ought to be able to send a book and CD on No Till Farming Systems. I study group can be made or presentaton given on this
important subject. Africa is far behind some of the world in this method.
Also since you're looking at natural fertilizers have you considered having a methane digester installed on your property? If you're not aware of the technology it is essentially two phase septic system. Waste is put into one container until it is full, and then it is capped while natural bacteria do their part. As this takes place methane is produced and can be stored for fuel. When it's done "cooking" the end result is natural fertilizer and it is completely safe. These are used in India quite a bit. I'm sure you can find info on the web if you're not aware of the technology.
Anyway, among the farmers we work with we recommend that they slowly phase into processing of an agricultural product each year. When product is processed the value jumps tremendously. Ground nuts are fantastic, but maybe you could find a way to make a simple dried fruit and nut mix to be sold in local markets.
I'm sure you've probably already thought about this but I thought it might prompt some ideas.
Jatropha is an up and coming product. Hopefully it will produce as everyone is anticipating. It was really interesting when the economy was better, but when people are worried about making a living food seems to be more valuable. I'll have to do some research on sugarbeans. I would love to see what they offer.
I wish you the very best.
Mike
We would love to have you write on the field models group a posting about the approach you are taking in your agro-enterprise efforts. Which crops? Are there other organizations involved? Are there potential production concerns? Let others hear about what you're doing from a field perspective. It's not so much a way to raise money as it is to potentially share your concepts to others who may want to do the same kind of thing. Thanks for joining!
