About my work:
I am a young woman on a mission.

At the young age of seven, I made a commitment to myself and parents that I would change the world and have made that my sole mission in life.

In 2006, I founded Literacy ‘n’ Poverty Project, an educational and development nonprofit organization that works to alleviate poverty and improve adult education worldwide. This is the beginning stage of an international social enterprise. I also started Chanelle Carver International, a company devoted to changing the world and empowering others to achieve their dreams.

By combining my love for business and nonprofit, I have developed a career in social change that enables me to continue my life's mission - TO CHANGE THE WORLD. This is success, the way I define it!
Interested in:
Professional Contacts, Learning about work in the field, Sharing resources, New ventures, Expertise requests, Potential Clients, Potential Investors
Topics on my radar:
I am extremely passionate about education, international relations, economic development, and human rights issues. Also anything related to nonprofit management, social entrepreneurship and business process improvement.

Looking to Network?

For young social entrepreneurs, I believe the best piece of advice is to NETWORK. Therefore, following my own advice, I ask all of you - people from different backgrounds, professions, industries, cultures - to please get in touch if you'd like to expand your network as well. Looking forward to hear from you!

Dear Chanelle,

I like your passion and commitment to some of the issues of our common interest. I will like to get in touch with you such that we can discuss and network. I will be coming to New York for the UN conference on the financial crisis on June 1-3 and if you have time, we can meet. Would be nice to read from you.

Ransom.

Dear Chanelle,
Thank you for your letter which I noticed late; hence the late reply. I beleive that we share a common passion i.e. women and youth empowerment. Basically my focus is on the use of microfinance as a tool for poverty alleviation. I believe that poverty is a consequence of mistake and that nobody likes to be poor; indeed the poor will get out of poverty if they are assisted and I am passionate about assisting people out of poverty. Women play significantly reponsible roles in households and the youth represent the future and these groups are vulnerable. Therefore if the vulnerable groups (not leaving out the men) are taken out of poverty the world would be a better place for everyone.

Let me introduce myself a little bit more. I worked last as a banker at a very senior level. I have also been involved as a volunteer with an NGO focused on community development; assisting women to establish co-operatives, market associations that enabled them access bank loans. Initially I saw hopelessness written all over women in the face deprivation and lack of finance; and also saw how they regained not only smiles and confidence of themselves but also, had improved health. It is the degree of success of the programme that drove me to full time study on Human Development and Public Policy with specialization in social protection (poverty and microfinance). Presently I do not have a formal framwork to take but hope to do so as soon I am through with my studies by the end of February. I am desirous to make a succession out of this and will be relying on experiences of people like you. Hope you will not mind. Perhaps in the future and may be from time to time, I will also request for your advice on how best to approach the programme.

Meanwhile I thank you for contacting me and look forward to a very rewarding networking with you.

Best Regards
Frances

Hello Chanelle,
I've only just found your last comment here.
Thanks so much for all this wonderful information about your work.
I don't know if you know, by my father died last Sunday, so i'm a bit behind.
I look forwards very much to having a good read of all you have written real soon, and to getting to know you more.
It's wonderful that you've joined our Women for a Change network - thanks so much, I'm sure we'll find ways we can collaborate at some point in the future and i'll be very interested indeed to connect with you more.
With warmest wishes
Chris

Hello Chanelle
it's wonderful to hear back from you.
Your project sounds very interesting and exciting indeed and would link in well with our own plans - adult education is an area that many of our supporters feel strongly about, as do we, but it's not an area we have plans to work in ourselves - so i feel there would be plenty of room for collaborative working here. Women for a Change is also a young organisation, in the early stages - and of course we have a big vision, but it sounds as though you're very familiar with big visions! This sounds wonderful.
You are very welcome to write something about the Literacy'n'Poverty Project in Women for a Change, may be in our Library which is the beginning of our resource centre where we will be listing valuable projects and organisations such as yours.
I will certainly have a look at your website.
And many thanks for your email address - mine is chris.crowstaff@womenforachange.org
Blessings

Hello Channelle
i would love to know more about your work.
I also believe greatly in the power of networking and I believe that women are particularly great networkers!
i have co-founded a global women's organisation to bring together women from diverse backgrounds and cultures to explore and develop ways to alleviate poverty, chiefly through the empowerment of women.
So when I read your profile I felt to pop in and say hi!
Blessings
Chris
