There is some research from the IMF that suggests that cooperative financial institutions -CFI- are comparatively less volatile than other forms of commercial banks. CFIs are a little bit different from MFIs.. MFIs can be HGOs, but CFIs are always member based organisations.. In Ethiopia, there is a credit company formed by the government. Some charities also run small-scale interest free loans. However, the government is making it illegal. They argue that borrowers should pay some interest on what they borrow.
Unfortunately, I have hurt my back and can't attend the meeting tonight. I'll attend future events.
