The Nobel award2006 to Muhammad Yunus has had extraordinary impacts on all of: 1) Yunus
2) 7 million poor women who shared half of the nobel prize
3) the nobel brand
4) the world of people who want microeconomics up not wall street down to spin our global generation

Great Chris! It sounds like you have some experience and passion in this area!
There is some research from the IMF that suggests that cooperative financial institutions -CFI- are comparatively less volatile than other forms of commercial banks. CFIs are a little bit different from MFIs.. MFIs can be HGOs, but CFIs are always member based organisations.. I'd be interested to know your impressions.. i'll email or please email me emmacim(at)hotmail.com

Hello
In Ethiopia, there is a credit company formed by the government. Some charities also run small-scale interest free loans. However, the government is making it illegal. They argue that borrowers should pay some interest on what they borrow.

Unfortunately, I have hurt my back and can't attend the meeting tonight. I'll attend future events.
